About Us

BCM Environmental & Land Law, PLLC has a distinguished record representing clients and an impressive history supporting environmental interests in New Hampshire. The roots of the firm run deep into many facets of the state’s legal community.

Founding member, Carolyn Baldwin, is one of the first 100 women admitted to the New Hampshire Bar. She was admitted in 1977.

In her first years of practice, Carolyn ran an environmental law clinic at the Franklin Pierce Law Center (now UNH School of Law). She briefly worked with a few other attorneys in Concord between 1983 and 1989, primarily practicing environmental and land-use law. In 1991, Richard deSeve joined Carolyn and the two practiced as Baldwin & deSeve at 101 N. Main Street.

In 1994, Richard deSeve left the practice to join the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services, and Carolyn was joined by recent law-school graduates Scott Hogan and Grant Kidd. (“Baldwin, Hogan & Kidd”).

In 1998, Jed Callen joined the firm, which became “Baldwin, Callen, Hogan & Kidd”. Grant Kidd left New Hampshire in 2002, and Scott Hogan relocated to the seacoast and opened his own practice in 2005. Jed retired in 2016.

Baldwin and Callen, were quickly joined by Geoff Ransom, and moved to the firm’s current location at 3 Maple Street in Concord. In 2008, Geoff left the firm to enter into the world of Trust and Estate law.

Amy Manzelli joined the firm in 2011, Jason Reimers in 2012, Kelsey Peterson in 2017, and Tom Hanna and Barry Faulkner in 2019.

Tired of the name changes and sign painting, the firm became “BCM Environmental & Land Law, PLLC” in 2012, and intends to remain that in perpetuity.

Our Mission

At BCM, we don’t practice every kind of law. Let other firms do that. We do only environmental law and land use law. Period. Within our focus on environmental and land use law, our practice is both deep and wide. We are committed to helping our clients and our communities because our clients—citizens groups, businesses, nonprofits, landowners, farmers, governmental entities, and more—represent what we love most about Northern New England. We are listeners, problem solvers, litigators, and hikers. Get another firm for your divorce or your criminal defense, but let BCM help you with the environment and the land.
